Carter Crossing
The Carter Crossing is a Habitat for Humanity subdivision in South Waukegan.  Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see the older developments in Carter Crossing.

In March of 2010, we broke ground on the last two houses in the subdivision.  Currently, volunteers are working to finish these two houses so that Carter Crossing will be complete!  When finished, Habitat Lake County will have built 33 homes in Carter Crossing since 2007.

In April, 2008 Habitat for Humanity held a Groundbreaking ceremony for four more families on 11th Court.

Between January and March, 2008, two more families moved in to Carter Crossing.

In October, 2007 ground was broken on 5 houses on 11th Court.

In May, 2007 Habitat for Humanity Lake County completed a Blitz Build, building a whole house in just 8 days.

In December, 2007, seven families moved into their houses on 12th Street, just in time for the holidays.

The first site excavation was done in February 2007.

In April, 2006 the ground was broken on the first six houses on 12th Street.

Pre-construction planning for Carter Crossing started in 2003.  Members of the Board of Directors, staff and other professionals worked on land acquisition, financial issues, and securing permits for 5 years before excavation for the first home took place.
