Family Support Program: Building Homes, Building Lives
When Habitat families join our program they know they will build their house  with us.  They don’t know that they will also build their life with us.  While completing 500 hours of sweat equity, families volunteer at our ReStore and on the building site.  They also complete our Family Education Program. The classes are fun as members of the group challenge each other as they grow.  Some enjoy learning so much they keep coming back for more!

Candidate Program: All My Money (U of I Cooperative Extension Program)
During 10 sessions families identify their governing values, goals and priorities and look toward the future.  They learn about wants vs. needs, budgeting techniques and how to make choices.  They learn about banking and checkbook reconciliation and about credit and consumer fraud.  They also complete a class to prepare them for construction called Be a Construction Superstar.

Nominee Program: Your Money or Your Life (U of I Cooperative Extension Program)
During 10 sessions, families learn about managing debt, using financial institutions, job benefits, taxes, insurance, identify theft and many other important consumer topics.  This helps them protect their assets and make the most of their hard-earned dollars.

Move-In and Closing Program
Families attend a Move in Class  to prepare for their new home and a Walk-Thru Class  to learn how their house works.  During Closing Class  they learn terms and concepts of mortgages, promissory notes, truth-in-lending, disclosures, escrow and more to develop confidence for when they have to sign a mountain of documents.
